Making Father’s Day Cards for the Special Dads in Your Life

On the road Father's Day Card

I don’t know about you, but I always have a little more trouble brainstorming masculine cards. Cards for children and women can be whimsical, super bright, floral, sparkly… so many options! But cards for the men in our lives… I seem to hit creative walls.

This year, I started brainstorming Father’s Day card ideas early because I had planned on going to a craft fair that would have been this weekend. I figured people would probably still need cards for Father’s Day a week before the holiday so I stamped, colored, and die cut images in preparation for some semi-mass production. Unfortunately, my first craft show had to be rescheduled to later this year but I decided to still use some of the supplies to make a few cards and thought seeing a bit of my creative process might help someone else ?

Brainstorming Cards

To start, I looked through my stash to see what stamps, sentiments, and paper would work. I stamped and die cut several sentiments and laid out some different designs.

Several Father's Day stamps and dies laid out on white background
Supplies for Father’s Day Cards from Lawn Fawn, Sizzix, and Close to My Heart brands.
Card with striped paper and die cut sun with Happy Father's Day die cut across bottom

Card with cloud patterned paper, white sun die cut, and sentiment that says "Happy that you are my dad"

Finished Cards

Here are the cards I ended up making. Even though I usually make interactive/shaker cards, I really love how these “regular” cards turned out!

Three Father's Day cards with on the road scenes and small bears driving in a car
Happy Father’s Day Cards using Lawn Fawn Car Critters, Father’s Day Border, Happy Happy Happy Add-On Family, and Cloudy Stencil, and My Favorite Things On the Road Die-namic, Tree Trio, and Petite Clouds.
Happy Father's Day card with two little bears in a red car on the road that says Happy Father's Day at the top of the card and "thanks for steering me in the right direction" next to the car
For the card above and below, I used Lawn Fawn Car Critters and Father’s Day Border. I ink blended the backgrounds using Cloudy Stencil and placed the car on top of the road I made out of My Favorite Things On the Road Die-namic and paper from My Favorite Things Road Trippin’ 6×6 Paper Pad. On the card below, I also added clouds I cut using My Favorite Things Petite Clouds. I added the little hearts and smiley faces from Lawn Fawn Love Letters. I love Lawn Fawn products because they always have versatile little stamps in their sets that you can use with any other sets.
Happy Father's Day card with two little bears in a bluish-green car on the road that says Happy Father's Day at the top of the card and "I'd be lost with you" underneath the car
Father's Day card with two little bears in a blue car on the road that says "happy that you are my dad"
For this card, I used Lawn Fawn Car Critters, Happy Happy Happy Add-On Family, and Spruce Remix Cardstock. To create the scene, I first cut the road from scrap cardstock. Once I had the road glued down in the middle, I cut the craft cardstock on either side of it by placing it against the road and then flipped it over to cut off the excess. I added trees and clouds from My Favorite Things dies.

Hope this gives you some fun ideas for next week! I will post pictures of the Father’s Day card I make for my husband on Instagram after he gets it (I am excited to use some new Lawn Fawn products I bought for the occasion), happy crafting ?
